A journal for essayists, poets, and artists on the edge of change.
The Turning Leaf Journal is founded upon the message of change. We aim to publish creative nonfiction, poetry, hybrid works, and art that explore the turning over of a new leaf through life’s entrances, exits, seasons, formation, and destruction. This journal is a space to explore the uncomfortable, the things most usually run away from. We hope that in doing so, relief is found. Confronting the growing pains makes room for new life, and we think this is worth celebrating.
In March 2025, we opened our zine project, The Turning Leaflets. Collaboration is at the heart of this project, and we are always open for submissions of craft essays and book reviews to include in these quarterly zines.
Authenticity and transparency remain our priorities, as are creating issues we’re damn proud of. All of us at TTLJ are so, so grateful for the community we’ve built, and continue to build. Thank you for being here!
Follow us on social media, and, when the time is right, send us the work you clung to with white knuckles and resisted for years.
