“Regeneration,” Maddie Marriott

Regeneration
By Maddie Marriott

On days I crave stagnancy,
the Earth extends to me
her map. A leafy vine curls
around a power line, stretching
its unselfconscious arm out
over the road. Somewhere in an
ocean’s murky salt, threaded
between stalks of swaying coral,
an octopus regrows its
shark-chewed limb.

Maddie Marriott (she/her) is a Pennsylvania-based reader and writer of all kinds. She is working towards the publication of her debut poetry collection. Learn more on her website.
