The Spring 2026 edition of “The Turning Leaflets” is accidentally, but excitingly so, poetry-forward. Megan Eralie-Henriques’s editorial letter reflects on the National Poetry Month challenge to write a poem a day and the value of practice. A craft essay from Jacob Butlett, Volume 1, issue 2 contributor, investigates the power of using writing prompts to spark creativity and meaning-making in poetry. Then, an interview with Millie Tullis in celebration of their debut poetry collection, These Saints Are Stones, where Millie shares a little about the process of bringing research and personal history to their work, and how to ground both the reader and the self as writer within that work. Finally, Bri Gearhart Staton’s review of TTLJ’s reader Allison Mei-Li’s A History of Holding: Poems on Motherhood closes out the leaflet.
Everyone who submits work to The Turning Leaf Journal for Volume 3, Issue 1 will be entered to win copies of both Millie’s and Allison’s books!
